Last week 36 individuals set out for the annual Corner Brook Christmas Bird Count. I was lucky to have the time to participate this year so I set out early, tasked with tallying the birds observed around Massey Drive. Unfortunately, my personal list did not amount to much with the most exciting encounter being with the always beautiful Pine Grosbeak, 6 in total.
The final results, however, were much more satisfying despite numbers being lower than in previous years. 35 unique species were spotted as opposed to the 38 spotted last year with the final number of individuals reaching just above 4200 with 2000 of those being gulls. The final tally, as you can see for yourself, is located below.
